Next Steps: Lieutenant Colonel Tahsequah was a decorated veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of the 3rd Maintenance Squadron, U.S. Air Force. On December 6, 1950, he a passenger a B-26B Invader bomber assigned to the 8th Bomber Squadron, 3rd Bomber Group. The aircraft ran out of fuel and crashed 30 miles north of Susa. The crew bailed out. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on February 28, 1954. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. ** For his leadership and valor, Lieutenant Colonel Tahsequah was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
